The new text messaging system is available now!
Here are the simple steps to get started.
- Log into your admin dashboard.
- Select Text Messages(New) on the left menu.
- On the next screen, select Pick Your Number.
- Enter an area code to search and click Search.
- After results load, select your number by clicking BUY on the right column.
Hints: Depending on number availability in your area, you may be able to select search again to load additional numbers.
If no numbers are available for your area code try your search again in 24 hours. Availability changes.
Once your number is selected you are ready to begin receiving text donations via your new number.

Why is Generush making this change?
We are continuing to improve Generush to serve the needs of the organizations we serve. This change allows Generush to be easier to use by contributors and provide new features to allow you to engage with your community. (not just donors)
Can the old text messaging system still be used?
We’ve allowed time for you the make this transition with your contributors. During the transition both systems can be used. Due to the complexity of this however, we will be turning off the old system after July 22, 2020. Please make sure you select a number and communicate with your contributors.
Will current text users need to sign up or re-register their phone number?
No they will not. Every contributor with a stored mobile number will automatically be registered with the new system.
What if we don't currently use text giving but we'd like to start.
It’s very simple to start. If you are a Starter or Premier organization follow the steps above to select a number and get started. If you subscribe to the Free package you will need to upgrade to the Starter or Premier to use text giving. You can do that at any time by emailing support at support@generush.org or calling 417-447-9234.
Why do we have to pay $2 for the number?
We built our price plans based on every organization using a single number at no cost to the organization. This didn’t allow individualization of the system by organizations and required extra steps for donors to sign up. In addition, it created more complexities for the donor if they gave to multiple organizations. The new system provides more flexibility and simplicity, well worth the two extra dollars a month it cost us to provide the number for you. This fee is included with your Premiere subscription.
Will our plan change if we don't use text giving or select a number?
Absolutely not. If you are on the Starter or Premier, do not use text giving and you choose not to select a number, nothing will change. If at some point in the future you wish to use text giving you will need to select a number to do so.
